The Purpose of Growth Groups
Philpott Church exists to make more and better disciples of Jesus Christ, and we believe our Growth Groups are a key part of that. The purpose of our Growth Groups is to help us develop deep, Christ-centered relationships rooted in the study of God’s Word. Our desire is to see that in time, all our adults get connected into Growth Groups so they can experience this growth in Christ and in community.
What Will I Experience in a Growth Group?
In a Growth Group you will:
- Study the Scriptures, with discussion guides based on ideas and issues in that Sunday's teaching.
- Share about how you're doing in a safe, caring, and loving environment
- Pray for each other
- Have fun and make great friends!
Is there a Growth Group that's right for me?
We have a variety of Groups designed to suit all kinds of needs and schedules. Most of our groups are mixed and intergenerational. Some of our groups are limited to those with shared life situations (e.g., young couples, new parents, etc.). As for who leads them, all of our leaders are relational, Godly, biblically literate, and loads of fun. We encourage you to get to know our Growth Group leaders and check out their groups to find the one that's the best fit for you before committing. That's why we start the fall and winter term with a two-week "Check-it-Out" period. In the first two weeks, if it ends up that the group you're in isn't the best fit for you, you're free to back out and join another group, or none at all - no questions asked.
In 2012 - 2013, our Growth Groups meet for three terms:
- Term 1: week of September 23 - November 25
- Term 2: week of January 6 - March 3
- Term 3: week of March 24 - May 26
