Communication Technology

Printing Press

The weekly bulletin (order of service), hymns and sermon outlines were typeset and printed in the church basement for many years prior to invention of stencle machines and later photocopiers.

Radio

Church services and messages were broadcast by 4 of our pastors during a 50 year period.

Telephone

Our church participated in the Hamilton area "I Found It" evangelism campaign in 1977. After the campaign finished, the hot-line telephone number was used by Philpott Memorial Church for a daily pre-recorded message which was promoted as Dial-A-Message. This service lasted until 1990.

Television

Pastor Lewis Worrad Jr. arranged with Cable 14 of Hamilton to record and televise one Sunday morning service per month. In addition, a half-hour discussion called Perspectives was pre-recorded monthly.

Internet

In July of 1995, the Board of Elders approved a recommendation by the Missions Committee to use the Internet for E-mail and the dissemination of information. The following month the board approved the material that would be provided on our Home Page. We went on-line Monday August 21, 1995.
