Contemplative Prayer/Spiritual Direction
Val Harvey
VOLUNTEER STAFF

Contemplative Prayer/Spiritual Direction is one of many spiritual disciplines that can help people grow in their relationship with God. Described as "prayerful conversation," it is for anyone who wants a companion to journey with them in praying, listening, & responding to God's love & direction in their lives. Many of us need help in slowing down, managing distractions, & drawing near to God through scripture and prayer. This can happen individually or in groups.
Val Harvey, M.A. is trained as a counsellor, has a D.Min. from MacDiv, & has completed a 2 yr. training program in Spiritual Direction. Contact her for more information, and for resources on quiet retreats & prayer for groups or individuals. harveyvj@hotmail.com

Visitation
Bram Van Overbeeke
Bram, born and raised in the Netherlands, came to Canada in 1963. He became a teacher and taught for 41 years at various private Christian schools, thirteen of these also as principal. His favourite subjects were Bible, church history, math, English, and history. During most of their married life Bram and Mineke were foster parents (over forty years) and more than seventy children mainly, babies and toddlers, were in their home for their beginning in life. After retiring from teaching they joined Philpott where Bram became involved with the visitation of those in the hospitals and the elderly who can not come to church any more. He is convinced the visits are more of a blessing for him than they are for those he regularly visits! When not visiting, he and his wife are enjoying their five children and sixteen grandchildren, gardening, some traveling, reading, and participating in their small group activities.
