Prayer - Does It Make any Difference?

---- September to December 2010 at 11:15 a.m. ----

The “Come from Away” group consists of adults of diverse ethnic/cultural backgrounds. Many are refugees / new immigrants from non-English speaking countries and/or from countries with no exposure to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They left places where they “belonged”, like so many people in the Bible who did “come from away”. Together we are exploring, in every day language, what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.

The early church regarded prayer as the most important part of Christian living. In 2010, pastors and ordinary Christians alike consistently rank prayer high in importance – and also high in frustration. If God knows everything, what’s the point of prayer?

“If prayer stands as the place where God and human beings meet, then I must learn about prayer” writes well-known author PhilipYancey. This semester we are exploring prayer using Yancey’s book “Prayer, Does It Make Any Difference?” as our study guide.
