What is Worship?

I would suggest that it means to adore Christ...to seek to honour Him every day, in our decisions, in acknowledging that we are in His Presence at all times, in submitting and surrending our lives to Him, in loving those around us.  We are called to live a life that worships God, and He had given us so many expressions with which to do that.

Music represents one of these beautiful expressions.  God can use music for His glory, and He can also use it to draw us into experiencing Him in creative ways.  The beauty, passion and creativity of music help to highlight different attributes of God, and point our hearts, minds and spirits to Christ Jesus who is worthy of all praise.

Our prayer at Philpott is to be able to provide a space where people can experience freedom in passionate corporate worship, centered on Christ and led by the Holy Spirit. We desire to grow together in understanding what the scripture teaches about worship and offering authentic expressions-of-the-heart to God.  It is also our vision to disciple and mentor musicians, providing opportunities for people to use their gifts and talents in the ministry, serving and loving the Lord and others for the glory of God.  We believe this can be done in many different styles because God is bigger than our genre.  Services at Philpott embrace and incorporate both traditional and contemporary music to help stir our hearts to worship.  We want to offer our best musicianship, but even more than that, we want to adore Christ together, for who He is.  To "sing a new heart-song unto the Lord."
